"Red Wine or White?"

Title: The Perfect Host
Year: 2010

Director and Writer: Nick Tomnay, Krishna Jones
Runtime: 93min

Based on the story “The Host" by the same author, it tells the story of John Taylor (Clayne Crawford), who, after robbing a bank sees his face quickly figuring in the local news, therefore decides to be hiding for a while. To all this, in a wealthy Los Angeles neighborhood he has the opportunity to impersonate the ”friend of the friend" of Warrick Wilson (David Hyde Pierce), who initially seems to be a nice guy, willing to help. And as we can imagine, appearances can deceive one.
This is another of those movies that, fortunately, I had the idea of watching almost without any notion of its argument. Before even watching it I had read the synopsis at the IMDB (yes, it's a site I tend to use a lot), where Mr. Warrick Wilson said and I quote, "the host is anything but ordinary." This phrase was what convinced me as a spectator. But honestly, I had no idea how "bit ordinary" would that character be.
The characterization of David Hyde Pierce is very good in his role as a deranged man, and it is really great to see him build all that world of his own, to which only we have direct access, as his guest cannot do anything but try to imagine how could it be that whole inexistent world that Warrick eyes appreciate.
It is also important to understand that everything that happens in this movie is fiction, as anyone familiar with the topic, would say, for example, that it would be quite difficult for a guy like Warrick to serve smoothly as a police chief. But beyond that, the film is yet enjoyable.
Also, I would not wish to forget, an aspect as curious as that, while in Bad Teacher it had been highlighted a sex scene (if you can call it that way) from the worst ever made, here I had the opportunity to have fun with another one, but, that instead of needless, it added a special flavoring.

My rating: 7/10
